What We Offer
Choose the training path that fits your dog—and your real life.
Dog training shouldn’t feel like guesswork. If you’re comparing options, you’re probably asking the same questions we hear every day: Where do I start? What do I focus on first? Do I need obedience, behavior help, or both? This page is your quick “router.” Pick the topic that matches what you’re living with right now, then click into the details for that specific offering.
At Best Life K9 Academy, we keep our training practical and owner-focused. The goal isn’t just a dog who can perform cues in a quiet room—it’s a dog who can succeed in the moments that matter: on walks, at the front door, around distractions, and inside your home.

Owner Coaching
Your dog doesn’t live at our facility—your dog lives with you. That’s why owner coaching is at the center of what we do.
We help you understand what your dog is communicating, how to set clear boundaries, and how to follow through in a way your dog can actually learn from. You’ll learn how to build habits you can keep—not a “perfect week” you can’t repeat.
If you’re the kind of person who wants to know why something works (not just what to do), owner coaching is the right starting point.
Basic Obedience
Basic obedience creates structure, confidence, and clarity. It’s where many teams begin—and it’s also where a lot of frustration comes from when the basics aren’t truly solid.
We focus on the everyday skills that make life easier: listening the first time, staying engaged with you, and responding reliably when it counts. Solid basics can turn “chaos management” into calm routines—and they give you a foundation you can build on for everything else.
Leash Training
A walk should be something you look forward to—not an upper-body workout.
Leash training is about more than stopping pulling. It’s about teaching your dog how to move with you, how to handle distractions, and how to stay mentally connected on the other end of the leash. Whether your dog drags you toward every smell, reacts to the world, or simply forgets you exist once you step outside, leash work is one of the fastest ways to improve daily life.
E-Collar Training
E-collar training is a topic that comes with a lot of opinions—and even more confusion.
We treat it as a training tool, not a shortcut. The purpose is clarity and communication, with the dog’s understanding front and center. If you’re exploring e-collar training, we’ll help you think through whether it fits your goals and your dog, and point you to the details so you can make an informed choice.
Play, Engagement & Relationship
Training goes better when your dog actually wants to work with you.
Engagement is the missing piece for many owners: the dog knows the cue, but the environment wins—squirrels, people, dogs, the wind, the universe. Building a real relationship through play and engagement helps your dog choose you more often, and it makes training feel less like “commands” and more like teamwork.
If you’ve ever said, “My dog only listens when there’s a treat,” this is a great place to dig in.
Behavior Modification
When you’re dealing with bigger struggles—reactivity, anxiety, aggression, or intense habits—“more obedience” often isn’t the full answer.
Behavior modification is about changing patterns over time: identifying what triggers the behavior, understanding what maintains it, and building new responses that your dog can repeat in real life. We’ll help you move past quick fixes and into a plan you can follow, so you’re not just managing problems—you’re actively changing them.
Multi-Dog Households
Two dogs can be twice the fun… and sometimes twice the tension.
In multi-dog homes, the challenges usually aren’t just “dog training”—they’re household dynamics: competition, over-arousal, rough play that escalates, resource guarding, or one dog feeding off the other’s intensity.
We help you create structure that works for the whole group, so each dog understands expectations and you can actually relax in your own home.
Shelter Dogs
Shelter dogs can be incredible companions—and they often come with unknown history and a learning curve.
If you’re navigating decompression, trust-building, confidence, or just the basics of “how do we become a team,” we’ll meet you where you are. We love helping adopted dogs settle in and helping owners build clear, kind routines that make the new life stick.
Not sure where to start?
If you’re torn between a couple of these options, you’re not alone. Many dogs need a blend—like leash training and engagement work, or basic obedience plus behavior support.
Start with the topic that’s disrupting your daily life the most:
- Walks are miserable → Leash Training
- Listening is inconsistent → Basic Obedience + Owner Coaching
- Big feelings (reactivity/anxiety/aggression) → Behavior Modification
- Your dog ignores you around distractions → Play, Engagement & Relationship
- You’re considering a training collar → E-Collar Training
- The household feels tense with multiple dogs → Multi-Dog Households
- You’re building a life with a new rescue → Shelter Dogs
